Aalto Ventures Program is building an online incubator for idea-stage teams and founders. The incubator is a support system that helps people to develop their ideas into businesses. The selection to the incubator is ongoing, and participants that are accepted get access to a learning platform containing a list of checkpoints to complete in order to graduate from the incubator. Founders will need to set deadlines for completing the checkpoints themselves. The program will also include group coaching and mentoring for the teams, however, following their progress on the checkpoints seems difficult.
Having no deadlines set by the incubator may also affect teams’ motivation. What may be the reasons for procrastination and delaying the checkpoints? How can we motivate them to keep going and completing the tasks in a reasonable amount of time?
This challenge is connected to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Goal 8* "Decent Work and Economic Growth", as the main goal of the incubator is to encourage the community to solve global problems via innovations.
* SDG 8 "Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all."
8.3 Promote development-oriented policies that support productive activities, decent job creation, entrepreneurship, creativity and innovation, and encourage the formalization and growth of micro-, small- and medium-sized enterprises, including through access to financial services.
